Information

What do we need to bring for our canal boat holiday?

Only bring the clothes you will realistically wear in a week aboard – remember a narrow boat is, well, narrow! Space is of a premium.

Bring some sort of waterproof coat or poncho for inclement weather. A wide brimmed hat is ideal for keeping the rain off. Water attracts insects – so remember repellent. Bring plenty of bottled water as the tank water onboard is best left for washing.

Bring some food and drinks – at least enough for your first night. Pack a camera to capture the idyllic scenery you will encounter and maybe some DVDs to watch at night when moored remotely or after the pubs shut!

We are travelling a long way – where is best to stay?

The closest town to our Whixall base is Wem which is accessible by train. For local accommodation and airport transfer we can recommend

 The Coaching Barns Wem

Alexanders of Wem
